A Maruti Swift car caught fire on Saturday night on the Chandigarh road. A short-circuit in its engine was said to be the cause of the fire. The vehicle badly damaged in the incident. According to people, the driver saved his life by jumping out of the burning car.

As per information, the incident occurred outside Vardhman Mill on the Chandigarh road. The car was going towards the Jamalpur chowk from Samrala Chowk when a spark from the engine caused the fire. Before the driver could come out, the fire broke out and he had to rush out from the vehicle to save his life.

On receiving information about the incident, a fire brigade vehicle and officials from Police Division 7 reached the scene. Afterwards, fire personnel brought the fire under control.

ASI Malkit Singh said the car owner was returning home from work. His car caught fire near Vardhman Mills.
