City college wins 5th consecutive inter-college softball championship

The students of Khalsa College for Women (KCW), Civil Lines, have once again proved their excellence in softball by winning the Panjab University Inter-College Championship title for the fifth consecutive year. The championship was held at the university campus grounds in Chandigarh on January 15-16, in which four top college teams from the region, affiliated to the university, vied for top honours.

The team, led by Taranjeet Kaur, comprises Inderjit Kaur, Kamla, Shilpa, Reshma, Manveer Kaur, Nazia, Sanju, Simran, and Arajpreet, stamped its superiority by overpowering their opponents to clinch the title for a record fifth time. They outplayed DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, 16-1; Dev Samaj Women College, Sector 45, Chandigarh, 14-1; and Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, Ludhiana, 9-4 to remain undefeated and emerged as the champions.

An elated Taranjeet Kaur expressed gratitude towards the coaching staff and her teammates. “This victory is a tribute to girls’ hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering support of our college. Winning the title for the fifth time in a row is a moment of pride for all of us,” said the captain.

College Principal Kamajit Kaur Grewal and Director Mukti Gill congratulated the students and coaches Ramesh and Amit on achieving the feat. This consolidated their position as a dominant force in collegiate softball, they said.

They also appreciated Dr Mandeep Kaur, HOD, physical education, and her staff for their guidance and contribution to this achievement.
