Harshveer Sekhon of Ludhiana made the city proud by winning two medals in the cycling event during the ongoing 38th National Games being held in Uttarakhand.

Harshveer is a trainee of senior cycling coach Satwinder Singh Vicky, who works with the Punjab Sports Department, and secured the third position in the 40 km individual time trial road event in the men’s elite group. He then clinched a bronze in the 4,000m individual pursuit track event.

Harshveer began his sporting career as a roller skater and represented India in the 2018 Asian Games. He took up cycling the same year and did wonders in the sport. Harshveer won multiple medals in cycling, including a silver medal in the 4km team pursuit during the Asia Cup in 2019, followed by two silver medals at the Asia Cup in 2023, in addition to accolades during other tournaments.

Coach Satwinder Singh commended Harshveer for his achievement during the current National Games at Shivalik Velodrome, Nainital. “Harshveer was the national champion in 2024 and has great potential. He is targeting to bring a gold for India in international championships,” said the coach.
