A city-based resident lost Rs 7.76 lakh to a cyber criminal. The fraudster had told the resident that his bank account was hacked and on the pretext of solving the issue, the suspect stole the money.
The complainant, Inderpal Singh, a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, told the police that on February 21, 2025, he had received a call from some unidentified number and the caller told him that his bank account was hacked and to sort out the issue, the caller demanded details of his ATM card and bank account.

After sometime, when he checked his phone, he was shocked to see that Rs 7.76 lakh were stolen from his bank account. Afterwards, he lodged a police complaint and after investigation the cyber cell police station on Tuesday registered a case in the matter.
