Two city swimmers, Varun Sharma and Jayana Sapra, have been selected to represent the Punjab swimming team at the 78th Senior National Aquatic Championship for men and women, scheduled to take place from June 22 to 26 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Anuj Sharma, honorary general secretary of the Punjab Swimming Association (PSA), stated that in addition to Varun and Jayana, the team includes Anshav Jindal (Ferozepur), Ekambir Kaur Sandhu (Jalandhar), Chahat Arora (Mohali), Ranvijay Singh and Yashvardhan Rajoria (Patiala), Avni Chhabra (Pathankot) and Bhavya Kathuria (Sangrur).

Raj Kumar and Rajpal Singh, both Sports Officers (Swimming) from Patiala, will accompany the team as officials.

Balraj Sharma, CEO of the PSA and former Senior Vice President of the Swimming Federation of India, said the championship would serve as a qualifying event for the 11th Asian Swimming Championship, to be organised by the Asian Swimming Association in Ahmedabad from October 1 to 15.
