Civic body team acts against eight illegal structures in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, July 9

Continuing the drive against illegal constructions, the Municipal Corporation (MC) took action against eight illegal buildings in the Sherpur area and Chandigarh road on Tuesday.

Working on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC)-cum-Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, the drive against illegal constructions was conducted by the building branch of the MC Zone B.

During the drive, MC teams, led by Assistant Town Planner (ATP) Harvinder Singh Honey, sealed two illegal labour quarter buildings and four shops in the Sherpur area.

Further, the civic body team demolished an under-construction illegal industrial building in the Sherpur area and an illegal liquor vend on the Chandigarh road was also sealed.

The ATP said they came to know about the illegal constructions during routine inspections and action was taken against them on Tuesday as owners failed to stop illegal constructions despite notices/warnings issued in the past.

Meanwhile, Sawhney said strict directions had been issued to staff of the building branch to keep a regular check and take stern action against illegal constructions.
