The police have launched a manhunt for an accused who was booked under Sections 262, 221 and 132 of the BNS for allegedly escaping lawful custody of a police party, obstructing police personnel in performing official duty and assaulting a cop in the parking lot of the District Courts in Ludhiana on Wednesday.

The accused was identified as Harwinder Singh of Mullanpur who had earlier been booked in a snatching case at a police station in Ludhiana (Rural) Police district and was brought to the courts. Perusal of records revealed that Harwinder Singh had allegedly pushed and assaulted a constable after freeing his hands off the cuffs and succeeded in fleeing from the parking lot, finding cover among the people and vehicles there.

Cops led by Sub Inspector Dharamvir Singh of Division No. 5 PS have launched a manhunt for the accused.
