The Ludhiana police booked a head constable, Balvinder Ram, for allegedly misplacing a crucial file related to an illicit liquor smuggling case dating back to 2015. The case was registered at the Salem Tabri police station on Friday.

According to reports, head constable Balvinder Ram had the file in his possession but failed to present it in court or hand it over to anyone at the police station. Moreover, allegations said he created a fake copy of the case, further complicating the matter.

SI Kashmir Singh confirmed that a case was registered against Balvinder under Section 409, IPC, which pertains to criminal breach of trust. Given the suspicious nature of the incident, the police were also scrutinising the his past record to uncover any potential wrongdoing.
