Students actively participated in cultural heritage items, namely, enu-making, naley-making, mitti de khidoney-making, chikku-making, piddi-making, croatia, kavishri and muhaveradar vartalap.
These events took youths back to the yester years of the state, where a strong camaraderie existed among the rural populace along with a culture of craftsmanship. Unleashing their laser-sharp focus, camera-eye and innovation while making typical designs using vibrantly coloured threads was the hallmark of the day. Besides, the expansion of intellect was evident from the demonstrations at muhaveradar vartalap.
Dr CS Aulakh, Dean, College of Agriculture (COA), who was the chief guest at the morning session, applauded Gen Z’s unbreakable bond with their culture and tradition. “The unique mix of old and new as well as past and present must go hand-in-hand,” remarked Dr Aulakh, while hailing the efforts of the organisers in connecting youths to their roots.
Presiding over the event, Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Sciences (COCS) as well as College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (COBSH), lauded the spectacular exhibit of the cultural extravaganza, promoting personality enhancement and mutual harmony among the youths.
The chief guest at the evening session, Dr GS Sandhu, Principal, SCD Government College for Boys, Ludhiana, urged youths to channelise their energies in the right direction and stay away from vices.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal relished the aesthetic sense and taste of the students in the cultural competition. “It is a golden opportunity for the youths to unlock their hidden talent, deliver their best in a vast array of events and win accolades, adding to the list of their brilliant academic career,” he observed.
The eight-day youth fest is witnessing the enthusiastic participation of the students from constituent colleges of PAU and outstation institutions.
