Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, organised an awareness-cum-input distribution camp at the adopted village, Hamidi, under Farmer FIRST Project sponsored by the ICAR. The activity was arranged under the guidance of Dr PS Brar, Director of Extension Education, and nodal officer of Farmer FIRST Project.

Dr Parminder Singh, principal investigator of the project; delivered the expert lecture on trace minerals feed for dairy animals. He explained the role of trace minerals in enhancing milk production, improving reproductive performance, boosting immunity, improving growth and development, improving feed efficiency and prevention of deficiency disorders in dairy animals. He responded to all queries of farmers and motivated them to adopt the technology.

Dr Parteek Singh Dhaliwal, co-principal investigator in the project, advised the farmers about regular vaccinations and deworming.

A demo on trace mineral feeding was also conducted at the village in which 25 dairy farmers participated and gained first-hand knowledge on the technology.
