Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Gill, along with Guru Nanak School, Dholewal, Government Senior Secondary School, Kasabad, and Dasmesh Senior Secondary School, Gill road, secured their berths in the semi-finals in boys’ section in Junior Ludhiana District Baseball Tournament which began at Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Gill village, near here on Friday. A total of 15 teams are taking part in the boys’ section.

In the league stage and quarterfinals, BCM School, Basant City, outclassed Government Senior Secondary School, Sangowal, 11-4; Guru Nanak Model School, Dholewal, beat BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, 8-3; BCM School, Focal Point, outplayed Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, 12-5; Government Senior Secondary School, Kasabad, blanked RS Club 9-0; Dasmesh Senior Secondary School, Gill road, defeated BCM School, Basant City, 7-1; Guru Nanak Model School, Dholewal, outperformed RS Model School, Shastri Nagar, 9-4; Government Senior Secondary School, Gill, outnumbered BCM School, Focal Point, 11-5 and Government Senior Secondary School, Kasabad, trounced Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial School 14-1.

Dr Smriti Bhargav, principal of Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Gill, inaugurated the tournament. The office-bearers of the organising association and coaches were present on the occasion. — OC
