Dr Nitin Shanker Behl, Director, Institute of Gastro & Liver Diseases, Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana, has been honoured with the prestigious National Award for “Excellence in Gastroenterology & Advanced Endoscopy” at the Pioneer of Medical Sciences India 2025 Conclave held at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

The award was presented by Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, and Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers .

It is one of the highest national-level honours bestowed in the field of medical sciences.The event was dedicated to honouring India’s extraordinary healthcare contributors under the national health and family welfare department and NITI Aayog .

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
