An FIR has been registered on the statement of ANTF official Amandeep Singh, for the alleged attack on the sleuths of the ANTF against Sunny Singh, Keepa, Davinder Singh and some unknown persons at the Sidhwan Bet police stations following which the police, supervised by SHO Hira Singh, have initiated a probe into the sequence of events leading to the incident.

“We have registered an FIR against Kuldeep Singh Keepa (owner of house), Sunny Singh, Davinder Singh and some unknown persons for allegedly attacking the ANTF team and further action would be take under the guidance of senior functionaries of the police,” said SHO Hira Singh, confirming that Davinder Singh Babbu had received gun shots during crossfire.

The perusal of FIR revealed that the suspects had tried to flee from the hideout after the ANTF team knocked at its door. It was during a chase by the sleuths that the peddlers opened fire against them (sleuths) and one of them (suspect Davinder Singh received a bullet in the abdomen.

Jalandhar had received information that Sunny Singh and accomplices were preparing to illegally distribute a huge consignment of drugs and narcotics from a hideout at Gorsian Mohammad Khan village near Jagraon in Ludhiana district.

However when the ANTF team reached the hideout, the accused, 5-7 in number, opened fire that was followed by fierce crossfire among peddlers and the sleuths.

Sunny Singh and his accomplice succeeded in fleeing from the scene when the sleuths were handling Davinder Singh Babbu who had received gun shots in abdomen. He was shifted to a multispecialty hospital at Ludhiana.

Investigations revealed that Sunny Singh and his accomplice are already involved in multiple criminal cases registered against them at various police stations.

It is suspected that Singh has an extensive network of drug peddlers involved in cross-border smuggling of drugs and weapons giving rise to serious security concerns in the region.

The police are yet to make any formal announcement about seizure of a huge cache of contrabands and illegal weapons from the raided hideout.
