Government Primary School, Giaspura, has stirred a controversy. Though the two inquiry officials — Gurdip Singh, Principal, Government Senior Secondary School, Bassian, and Hardev Singh, BPEO, Sidhwan Bet 2 — are yet to formally submit their report to higher authorities, well placed sources in the department believe that many discrepancies have been found in the school.

When asked about the outcome of the inquiry report, District Education Officer (Primary) Ravinder Kaur said that the school head had already been suspended.

“We have come to know that the school had much less number of students but the number has been shown to be much higher on paper, there is also mismatch in data as far as mid-day meal and distribution of uniforms is concerned. But we are waiting for the inquiry officials to submit details so that these can be sent to the higher authorities,” the DEO said.

Sources in the department maintain that proper records are not furnished to the inquiry officials and no cooperation is being extended on many issues due to which there has been delay. Officials from the Education Department too had visited the school following several complaints and when discrepancies were found, the school in-charge was suspended.
