Elderly man injured after falling into crater

Residents after noticing the incident immediately rescued him and took him to a hospital, where he was treated for a deep cut on his left leg.
Area residents who fumed after the incident and said that they had been complaining to the authorities concerned for weeks about the growing crater, which initially was a small pothole, but no official paid heed.
Social worker Sandeep Shukla said he had been raising the issue on social media for a month. He recalled an incident the previous night when two girls on a scooter fell into the same hole, but fortunately didn’t suffer any injuries.
Another resident Amandeep Singh said that this was a major road connecting several parts of the city and that he had personally helped other two-wheeler riders who had fallen due to the pothole.
Executive Engineer Ekjot Singh said a team had started repairing the crater and barricading of the spot had also been done. The incident occurred when team members had gone to bring material and Himmat fell into the crater.
