Gowri Jayamurugan, founder of Gowriz Skincare, a startup nurtured by the Punjab Agri Business Incubator (PABI) at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), emerged victorious at the National Bio Entrepreneurship Competition (NBEC) 2024.

The event, held in Bengaluru, is recognised as India’s largest and most esteemed biotech competition. Gowri’s innovation in developing a novel biomass-derived UV-filter for sunscreen and anti-aging applications earned her the L’Oréal Research and Innovation cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.

Dr TS Riar, Principal Investigator at PABI, expressed pride in Gowri’s accomplishment. “Gowri’s achievement is a testament to the calibre of innovation and determination that we foster at PABI. We are thrilled to see her hard work and ingenuity recognised on such a prestigious platform.”
