Ex-servicemen roped in to assist admn post Indo-Pak tensions

The administration claimed to have roped in ex-servicemen of the region for seeking their contribution during a period when normalcy was returning following de-escalation of tension between India and Pakistan. SSP Malerkotla Gagan Ajit Singh chaired the maiden meeting in the series held at his office and DSP (Special) Ranjit Singh Bains was the chief coordinator.

Showing satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting held on Tuesday, SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said retired personnel from the armed forces of India had assured to contribute to the administration in several ways using their unique skills and experience. “While they enriched our knowledge on issues related with wars fought in the past, they offered to assist the administration in maintaining order, providing security or supporting us in any emergency arising during the following days,” said the SSP.

Bains said an elaborate subdivision wise plan had been drafted according to which DSPs at Amargarh and Ahmedgarh would be organising joint meetings of ex-servicemen of their respective circles. DSP Amargarh Davinder Singh Sandhu, DSP Ahmedgarh Rajan Sharma and DSP Malerkotla Kuldeep Singh have advised SHOs and beat officers to prepare lists of ex-servicemen willing to assist the administration in case of need.

Spreading awareness on the need for stopping misuse of social media, check on spread of rumors, logistics, medical support and communication were cited among avenues in which ex-servicemen can support the administration and handle the ongoing situation of stress following a tension between India and Pakistan.
