With the aim of expediting recovery of dues from the residents, Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal conducted a review meeting with the officials of the property tax wing and the building branch at the MC Zone D office at Sarabha Nagar on Thursday.

Weekly recovery targets have been fixed for the officials concerned and MC Commissioner Dachalwal would be conducting weekly review meetings to monitor progress.

MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, Zonal Commissioner Neeraj Jain, Zonal Commissioner Gurpal Singh, Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Sekhon, SE-cum-MTP Ranjit Singh, zonal superintendents, and assistant town planners (ATP), among other officials, were present at the meeting.

The annual recovery target for the property tax wing is Rs 180 crore for the current fiscal. Of this, Rs 131.49 crore has already been recovered by the officials deputed in all the four zones of the civic body.

Besides expediting recovery of dues, the building branch officials have also been directed to take strict action against illegal constructions. Dachalwal stated that the officials had been directed to achieve the recovery targets otherwise strict departmental action would also be taken against them. Dachalwal also appealed to the residents to pay their dues in time to avoid penalties.
