A fire broke out in a two-storey building in Ludhiana's Basant Street, near Noorwala Road, on Wednesday, said fire department officials.

The fire started around 7 pm near a clothing store on the second floor. According to an official, a car was also damaged in the blaze.

Assistant Divisional Fire Officer Maninder Singh said, "The fire was about 90 per cent under control, but there was some tension regarding stock and fire safety measures."
