Addressing a state-level function at Lord Vishwakarma Mandir, Sond mentioned that the global industrial and infrastructure development was a direct result of Lord Vishwakarma’s blessings.
The minister further explained that the Punjab Government was focusing on skill development for the youth throughout the state, aiming to enable them to lead lives o
f dignity and self-respect, in line with Lord Vishwakarma’s principles and teachings. Encouraging people to adopt Lord Vishwakarma’s teachings, Sond stated that supporting skill development across the state would be a fitting homage to him.
Mandir committee president Ranjit Kumar Salh urged the state government to assist the managing committee in completing the pending civil works of the mandir building by releasing the required funds. Sond announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for the temple and assured support in completing the pending civil works. He also distributed sewing machines among needy women.
The birth anniversary of Baba Vishwakarma was celebrated with great enthusiasm by Congress. Special prayers were performed at Sarabha Nagar, where floral tributes were offered. Similar programmes were organised at Housing Board Colony and BRS Nagar, where several artisans, engineers and technical experts actively participated.
Addressing the gathering, Pawan Dewan, former chairman of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, former president of Ludhiana Urban Congress and senior Congress leader, said that Vishwakarma was not only the deity of labour and craftsmanship but also a source of inspiration for the entire working class. “From a simple needle to a massive ship that sails across the seas — everything is a manifestation of Baba Vishwakarma’s divine creativity,” he said. He also urged the government to extend greater support to artisans and small-scale industries so that the vision of a self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat) could be realised more effectively.
Business establishments shut
Business establishments, factories and other places, where work with tools is carried out, were shut on occasion of Vishwakarma Day. Factory owners were seen performing poojas in the morning, while workers were busy cleaning their tools and machines.
