Though the police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the mishap, preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of a vehicle going in front of the MPV had applied sudden brakes and driver Vijay tried to prevent the collision. However, the vehicle collided with a truck that was parked on the road due to a breakdown some time ago.

Inspector Sukhdev Singh said all the injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital, Khanna, from where Vijay was shifted to some other multispecialty hospital as his condition was stated to be serious. Police officials deployed in the Sadak Suraksha Force (SSF) had to work hard for two hours to rescue Vijay from the mangled remains of the MPV.
