After a city-based doctor, Sumeet Sofat, alleged that despite the Judicial Magistrate First Class directing the Station House Officer (SHO), Police Division 5, to register a case on the charges of criminal conspiracy, fraud and forgery against a woman, the police were adopting a dilly-dallying attitude. Finally, they have registered a case against the suspect.

Dr Sofat said finally, the police registered a case against the woman, who wanted to usurp his property located at Sunet village, the value of which was in crores of rupees. Now, he urged the police to arrest the suspect and put her behind the bars.

The court had issued orders in this regard on August 17 but the police had not been taking the court orders seriously. Especially, the SHO was not registering a case. earlier, he had visited the police station many times to enquire about the status of his case but to no avail. He had also sent a complaint to the DGP, Punjab, and the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, expecting that speedy action would be taken but nothing was done.

He alleged that the police were delaying the registration of the case might be due to some political influence.

The FIR also mentioned that if role of any other suspect comes up during investigation of the case, the person would also be nominated and action would be taken accordingly.
