The camp, aimed at early detection of childhood eye disorders, was organised under the guidance of Dr Priyanka Arora, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, DMCH, and coordinated by Rakesh Garg, president of the welfare club.
A total of 461 children were screened—261 from Gandhi School and 200 from surrounding villages. Among them 30 children were diagnosed with squints, four with cataract, two with ptosis (drooping eyelid) and 30 children were found to need corrective spectacles.
Dr Arora emphasised the importance of early identification and timely intervention for preventing avoidable blindness and ensuring healthy visual development in children.
Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMCH managing society, stated: “Through ‘Project ROSHANI’, we aim to make specialised eye care accessible to every child, regardless of their background.”
Dr GS Wander, Principal, DMCH, applauded the team for their dedication. He said these children would receive free treatment and spectacles under the project at DMCH.
The event not only provided essential medical services, but also raised awareness about eye health among families and educators—marking yet another impactful milestone for ‘Project ROSHANI’ and the DMCH in their mission to ensure that every child can see.
