The Ludhiana police have busted a gang of snatchers and arrested two of its members.Those arrested have been identified as Mithan Kumar of Kailash Nagar and Anish Kumar of Meharban. Additional DCP-1 Sameer Verma, Assistant Commissioner of Police Davinder Chaudhary and SHO Jodhewal police station Inspector Jasvir Singh addressed a press conference in this regard.

ADCP Verma said that the accused had snatched a mobile phone of Gaurav Sharma of Noorwala road on April 26. After the complainant lodged a police complaint, Jodhewal police station started investigation, during which the cops identified the suspects. Acting on the tip-off, the police today conducted a raid and nabbed the accused. The police also recovered 10 mobile phones and a motorcycle from the accused.

Verma added that the recovered mobile phones had been snatched by the accused from city residents in recent past while the motorcycle recovered from the accused was stolen by the gang from Ludhiana recently. Both accused also have a criminal past as they are facing two each cases each of snatching and theft.

The ADCP said now the police remand of the accused would be sought so that during further investigation, more recovery of looted valuables could be made.
