The accused have been identified as Vikramjit Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Narinder Singh, Kushal and Manjit Singh, all residents of Sahnewal, along with five unknown persons.
Complainant Sarita Devi, a resident of Gill Colony, told the police that her son, Suraj Kumar, had married Mandeep Kaur in court on June 3. She stated that Mandeep’s brothers — Vikramjit, Jaswinder and Narinder — and their uncle Manjit Singh were opposed to the marriage.
“On June 7, the accused, along with five unidentified accomplices, came to our house at night looking for Suraj. When they did not find him, they kidnapped my husband, Jayant Singh, aged 50 and took him away,” she said. She further alleged that her son’s friend, Kushal, helped them in abducting her husband.
During the investigation, the police successfully recovered the victim, Jayant Singh.
Investigating Officer ASI Gurvinder Singh said a kidnapping case had been registered and further investigation was underway, with raids being conducted to apprehend the remaining accused.
