Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab, inaugurated Heavenly Angels, a house for more than 300 orphans, and Joyful Living for senior citizens and deprived women with a capacity of 150 beds on the occasion of International Senior Citizen’s Day in Doraha on Friday.

The Governor applauded the efforts of DBC Trust’s chairman Anil K Monga, who has been serving humanity for the past 29 years. He highlighted the importance of the unique initiative which shall provide care, comfort and companionship to senior citizens, making it a model for similar institutions across the country. He said that the Dream and Beauty Charitable Trust was doing a commendable job by providing medical services, surgeries and free medicine in slum areas. “They serve more than 15,000 nutritious meals every day,” he added. The Governor further added that youth from slums and dysfunctional families were trained for jobs by the teams of DBC Trust.

World Peace ambassador Acharya Dr Lokesh Muni, founder of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti, said many gifted souls were struggling to survive because their families were unable to support them. “DBC Trust’s orphanage creates an intimate family environment where resident senior citizens treat them like their grandchildren,” he said.

The celebrations featured a cultural programme, presented by residents of Heavenly Palace and children of Heavenly Angels, the orphanage run by the trust. Traditional dances, melodious songs and a captivating drama brought joy and cheer to the gathering, embodying the essence of love, unity and cultural heritage.

Monga emphasised the trust’s mission is to continue uplifting the downtrodden, focusing on providing shelter, medical care, education and holistic support through various programmes. Emphasising on his vision for global peace and harmony, Monga said, “If we all participate in the wider objective of lending a helping hand to those in need, we will very soon see a massive shift in the world we live in.”

Acharya Manish, Khanna ADC Shikha Bhagat, Khanna SSP Dr Jyoti Yadav, Payal SDM Pardeep Singh Bains, CWC Ludhiana chairman Gurjeet Singh Rumana and Payal SMO Harwinder Singh were especially present on the occasion.

DBC’s board trustees Rajesh Narula, Amrinder S Dhiman, Anil Singhania, Amrit Bhambari, Neeru Sital and coordinator Col Parminder Singh accorded support to the event.
