Granthi nabbed for bid to violate minor

The Sidhwan Bet police on Wednesday arrested a granthi on the charge of attempt to rape a minor girl on the gurdwara premises in Bhaini Arayian village in Sidhwan Bet. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening. He was identified as Gurcharan Singh.

The victim had gone to a gurdwara with other children to pay obeisance, where the granthi, Gurcharan Singh, tried to take off her clothes and started doing obscene acts. The girl got scared and ran away from the other door and reached home. The victim narrated the incident to her family. Following which, they lodged a complaint with the police. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police started a probe and registered a case against the man. SHO, Sidhwan Bet, Inspector Hira Singh, said Gurcharan was a resident of Dugri, and was staying in Bhaini Arayian gurdwara. He was arrested by the police.
