Health notes: DMCH plants 10,000 saplings

Ludhiana, August 2
With the mission to restore ecological balance, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, in collaboration with the Vardhaman Group, planted 10,000 saplings at its College of Nursing Complex in Malakpur village using the Miyawaki Forest concept in 1.5 acres of land.
To further strengthen this initiative, 700 native varieties were also planted by the DMC&H.
The Miyawaki method is an efficient technique for creating mini-forests quickly. It is renowned for its effectiveness in creating dense, native forests. It involves planting a variety of indigenous species close together, resulting in accelerated growth and robust biodiversity. By adopting this innovative approach, DMC&H and Vardhaman Group are ensuring the establishment of a self-sustaining ecosystem.
Dr Bishav Mohan, Professor of Cardiology, Hero DMC Heart Institute, said the initiative towards environmental sustainability was conceived and executed by Vardhaman Special Steels and the DMCH is equally passionate and supportive of such efforts towards environment sustainability. — TNS
