The food safety team of the Health Department today raided a shop selling dairy items on Rahon Road and found 1.5 quintal of paneer, suspected to be adulterated. It was purchased from a vendor from another district this morning.

The shopkeeper purchased the paneer for Rs 180 per kg from the vendor. The team has taken samples of paneer and ghee from the shop and destroyed the whole stock of paneer on the spot. The officials also collected samples from sweets shops on the cemetery road, Rani Jhansi Road and Karimpura Bazaar.

The team has also taken eight samples of paneer, ghee, cham cham, cake, ghee, khoya and namkeen.

All samples were sent for testing and action will be taken as per reports.
