Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) has announced an indefinite suspension of services across all public healthcare facilities in the state beginning September 9 due to unresolved issues such as stalled assured career progression and the Sixth (Central) Pay Commission arrears, among other demands.

On August 27, PCMSA will meet with the administrative secretary of the Department of Health and Family Welfare to discuss the cadre’s outstanding demands.

The detailed plan of action will be announced on August 28, following the meeting.

While welcoming the state government’s decision to recruit 400 regular (PCMS) medical officers (MOs) after a four-year hiatus, PCMSA has urged the government to ensure that recruitment drives like these were held annually to replace the annual attrition of MOs.
