Federation of Hosiery and Textile Manufacturers Association, Ludhiana, has threatened to start state-wide agitation over 33 dyeing units being served notice pertaining to ceasing their sewerage privileges, for allegedly polluting the Budda Nullah, without providing them any alternate site with the Common Effluent Treatment Plant facility.

Tarun Jain Bawa, president, said the state government had spent Rs 659 cr on setting up of a STP to clean the nullah without much foresight. He alleged since it was a scam in which PPCB officials were involved, no one was ready to listen to their concerns. He demanded a CBI inquiry should be conducted into the bungling of funds and that the industry should not be penalized unnecessarily.
