The last day of settlement of pending dues under one time settlement (OTS) scheme for property tax witnessed huge rush at the MC Suvidha Centres on Thursday.

Despite being a public holiday, the offices were kept open for public to help them deposit the dues. Now, after the last day the defaulters will have to pay pending dues along with the interest and penalty.

The Municipal Corporation Ludhiana officials claimed that manual tax collection was stopped in the evening while online tax facility was available till midnight. The municipal corporation will be able to come out with the details of the total tax collections on August 1.

The officials will now work on the collection of dues from the defaulters and sealing drives will be carried out.

For the payment of tax collection of current year the residents have time till September end to avail of the 10 per cent rebate. The Municipal Corporation officials will put more thrust on the recovery of current dues.
