The MC Commissioner said the civic body had been regularly appealing to residents to stop dumping waste in the open and strict action would be taken against those who were indulging in the practice.

He told the officials to move to the field on a regular basis and ensure cleanliness in their respective areas.

Dachalwal said he would also be conducting surprise inspections in coming days. Besides taking action against the violators, the civic body would also act against officials who failed to perform their duty at the ground level.

A few employees had also been suspended in the past as they failed to ensure cleanliness in their respective areas.
