The police claimed to have busted a gang that has been supplying drugs and narcotics to sellers and consumers under the guise of traders travelling in luxury cars.

The Amritsar-based kingpin of the gang Sukhman Singh Sunny, at present staying at Shivjot Apartments, Kharar, is reported to have developed a network of customers who used to wait for his Cruze car (bearing registration number Punjab 02 CF 1700) at designated places. The local conduit was identified as Vicky of Meat Market, Khanna, at present staying in Kartar Nagar, Khanna.

The police seized 1.5 kg of ice (methamphetamine), 1 kg of opium and 10 g of heroin, besides the Cruze vehicle, from the two suspects who were arrested from separate places during the past two days.

Khanna SSP Jyoti Yadav said a notorious gang of drug peddlers had been busted during a campaign launched under the supervision of DGP Gaurav Yadav and DIG Nilambari Vijay Jagdale on Tuesday when a patrolling party had seized 10 gm of heroin from Vicky during a surprise checking in the Prem Bhandari Park area.

It was during the interrogation of Vicky that the existence and modus operandi of an inter-district gang of drug peddlers were known.

“It was on the basis of information extracted from Vicky that we nominated Sunny in the case and laid a trap at Kharar where he (Sunny) used to call his clients to deliver drugs and narcotics in routine,” said the DGP, claiming that 1.5 kg of ice and 1 kg of opium were recovered from his possession during a search of the car on Wednesday.

The recovery of huge quantities of drugs is viewed as a big achievement as intensive and scientific investigation can result in identification and arrest of some big fish from whom Sunny procures the contrabands.
