Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) celebrated International Nurses Day with enthusiasm through a joint event, collaboratively hosted by the Department of Nursing from Hero DMC Heart Institute (HDHI), DMCH Cancer Care Centre, and DMCH College of Nursing. The celebration honoured the relentless dedication, compassion and service of the nursing staff who are the backbone of patient care.

The theme for this year was “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies.”

Principal GS Wander, highlighted the year’s theme for the day and acknowledged the courage of nurses who balance the demanding professional duties with their personal lives.

A special highlight of the celebration was the Best Ward Award, which recognised excellence in teamwork, hygiene, patient care, documentation and other key parameters. The first five positions were bagged by the departments of urology, neurosurgery 1, paediatrics, medical unit 2 and oncology medicine.

The celebration also featured a cultural programme, where nurses showcased their talents through dance, music and skits, reflecting their multifaceted personalities beyond their professional roles.

Deputy Nursing Superintendent Anit Joseph expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all participants and the hospital leadership for their support in making the event a success.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony recognising sister incharges for their outstanding service in their respective wards—a gesture of appreciation for their leadership and dedication.
