Jassewak Singh, Jaskaran Singh, Ranvijay Singh Butter, Gagandeep Singh and Sukhvir Singh emerged the winners in track and field events in the boys’ different age groups in the ongoing district-level games of the third edition of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan being organised by the Punjab Sports Department under the aegis of Sports and Youth Services, Punjab, with the assistance of district administration at different venues across the district on Wednesday.

At Guru Nanak Stadium, in the boys’ U-14 section, in long-jump event, Jassewak Singh won top position while Sayyam and Harsimar Singh secured the second and third position, respectively, while in 100m race (boys U-17), Jaskaran Singh fetched the first position and Utkarash finished second while Anmolpreet Singh had to content with third place.

In shot put (boys’ U-17), Ranvijay Singh came out triumphant while Gurmanjot Singh Randhawa and Jobanpreet Singh secured the second and third place, respectively. In long jump event, Gagandeep Singh romped home and Sulesh secured the second place while Parveen and Gautam shared the third place.

In 1,500m race (boys’ U-17), Sukhvir Singh, Ankit Kumar and Preet Kumar secured the top three positions, while in the boys’ U-21 category, Lovejeet Singh (100m race), Vishawpratap Singh (400m race), Ravinder Singh (shot put) and Vijay Kumar (long jump) emerged the winners.

At the PAU Astroturf stadium, in hockey (boys U-17), Chachrari village team blanked Samrala team 5-0 and Jarkhar village team beat Ghwaddi village 2-1 and Rampur village defeated Heran village 4-3.

In the boys’ U-14 section (football), Machhiwara beat Malout 2-0, Doraha ‘B’ team beat Raikot 1-0, Ludhiana I ‘A’ team beat Pakhowal 2-0, Khanna beat Ludhiana II ‘A’ team 3-2, Machhiwara ‘A’ team neat Doraha B team 1-0, Doraha A team beat Jagraon 2-0 and Pakhowal B team beat Samrala A team 2-0.

In kabaddi (national style) for boys’ U-14, Pakhowal, thrashed Raikot 23-6, Kriraa Bharti School routed Sahnewal Khurd 32-5, Indo Canadian School beat Shivalik School 39-22 and Pakhowal outwitted Indo Canadian School 17-4 while in U-17 group, Khanna outperformed Sahnewal Khurd 19-3, Pakhowal defeated Jagraon 26-19 and Ranian village outclassed Ludhiana II team 26-7.

In judo, Rishu of Madhopuri (below 28kg), Dimple of Jamalpur (below 32kg), Naman of PAU (below 36 kg), Navroop of BVM School, USN branch (below 40 kg) and Krishna of DAV Public School (below 44kg) were the winners.
