Guru Nanak Stadium centre players stamped their supremacy by clinching the titles in the girls’ U-14, 17 and 21 categories in the basketball event in the ongoing district-level games of the third edition of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, being organised by the Punjab Sports Department under the aegis of Sports and Youth Services, Punjab, with assistance from the district administration at different venues across the district on Wednesday.

Here at Guru Nanak Stadium, in the girls’ U-14 section, Doraha Public School, Doraha, and Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, secured the second and third position, respectively, while in the U-17 category, Khalsa Club finished as the first runners-up and Doraha Public School secured the third position. In the U-21 group, Doraha Public School and Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, finished as the first and second runners-up, respectively.

In lawn tennis, at Harvest Tennis Academy, Jassowal Kular village, in the boys’ U-14 group, Faizal emerged the champion and was followed by Ishaan Chopra and Sidhan Aggarwal at the second and third spot, respectively. In the U-17 category, Krishna Chhabra got the first position, Devin Saraf secured the second spot and Puneet Soni finished third .

In the men’s 41-50 section, Amit Gupta (1979), Amit Gupta (1981) and Amanpreet Singh secured the first three positions. In the above 70 group, Gurdeep Singh came out triumphant while Jugal Kishore Soman secured the second place.

In softball, (girls’ U-17), Government Senior Secondary School, Kasabad, overwhelmed BCM School, Focal Point branch, 15-0; Coaching Centre, Mallah (Jagraon) blanked Dasmesh Senior Secondary School, Dasmesh Nagar, 10-0 and Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, beat Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Gill village, 2-0.

At Shastri Hall, near the Guru Nanak Stadium, in badminton (girls’ U-14), Kaamil Sabharwal, Samaira Aggarwal and Anshika secured the top three positions while in the U-17 group, Gursimrat Kaur Chahal, Ananya Nijhawan and Mannatpreet Kaur finished on the podium.
