Defending champions in the men’s and women’s sections, Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) proved their mettle by retaining the titles in the 74th Senior Punjab Basketball Tournament, organised in the memory of Arjuna awardee Gurdial Singh Malhi, that concluded at Gureh village near Jagraon in this district on Thursday.

In the men’s section, Jalandhar and Ludhiana districts secured the second and third positions, respectively, and in the women’s section, Sangrur and Ludhiana districts finished as the first and second runners-up, respectively.

Dhanpreet Kaur, IG, Ludhiana Police Range, gave away prizes to the position holders. MLA Gurdit Sekhon was the guest of honour on the occasion. Yurinder Singh Hayer and JP Singh, senior vice-president and vice-president, respectively, Punjab Basket Association (PBA) and Parminder Singh, SP, Jagraon were among other prominent persons present.

Teja Singh Dhaliwal, honorary general secretary, PBA, congratulated the winners and thanked the participating teams and officials on the successful completion of the championship.
