LPG cylinder leakage leads to flash fire at migrants’ vehra

A flash fire occurred in a room of a vehra (migrants’ quarters) in Neechi Mangli due to a leakage in a LPG cylinder injured four persons, including three children, on Friday.

Hearing screams in the room, neighbours rushed to the scene and took the injured to the Civil Hospital, where they are still undergoing treatment.

Guddi, the mother of the injured children, said a youth, Vikas, who is also staying in the vehra, was cooking in his room this morning and her children were also sitting in his room. When Vikas lit the gas stove, fire erupted from the pipe and It caused an explosion. The room was filled with smoke. Neighbours came to rescue the children after hearing their cries and pulled the injured out of the room and rushed them to the hospital. Vikas also suffered injury in the mishap. The injured children have been identified as Arjun, Surjeet and Rahul.

Vikas said he was cooking in his room this morning. When he lit a match to light the gas stove, a flash fire injured them. The children, who were sitting near him, suffered burns. Vikas’ face was badly burnt. Rahul, who is four-year-old, suffered burn injuries on his legs.

Civil Hospital SMO Akhil Sarin said he had examined the condition of all four injured. All were being treated. Vikas’ face was burnt. Initially, after seeing his condition, he thought of referring him to the PGI or Patiala but now his condition is stable. All the injured will be treated here only.
