Hosts Ludhiana in the boys’ section and Ferozepur in the girls’ section, emerged champions in the 11th Sub-Junior Punjab State Baseball Championship held at Government Girls Senior Secondary School ground, Gill village, near here.

In the boys’ final, Ludhiana overcame strong challenge by Sangrur before stitching it up 2-0 to lay their hands on the winners’ trophy. Prince and Sunil accounted for one run each to help Ludhiana win the title. Patiala beat Ferozepur 10-5 to secure the third position.

In the girl’s section, Ferozepur toiled hard to edge out Ludhiana 9-5 to annex the title. Sangrur beat Kapurthala 12-2 to finish at the third place.

Harbir Singh Gill, secretary, Punjab Baseball Association, gave away the prizes. Sukhdev Singh Aulakh, Ravi Dutt, Vaninderjit Singh, Jatinder Kumar Thakur and Neeru were among others present at the prize distribution function. — OC
