Ludhiana boys faced many anxious moments against Amritsar before coming out triumphant and securing the third position in the 13th Junior Punjab State Baseball Championship which concluded at Government Senior Secondary Smart School ground, Gill village, near here on Monday.

The final was played between Sangrur and Ferozepur, in which the former emerged winners (1-0). The all-important run was scored by Daljit Singh.

In the match for third place, Ludhiana faced a strong challenge from Amritsar, whom they overpowered 5-4 to secure the bronze medal. For the winning side, Mantekvir, Divjot Singh, Akash Singh, Sunil and Ravjot Singh scored apiece each and helped their side stitch up the victory. Harbir Singh Gill, honorary general secretary, Punjab Baseball Association, and Dr Barjinder Singh gave away prizes to the position holders.
