“The residents of Punjab Mata Nagar and New Punjab Mata Nagar get water through the tubewells installed at Vikas Nagar, which is on the opposite side. The tubewells release water as per the schedule. Now, during power outage when water is to be released, we fail to switch on our motors and pumps, and our water tanks are not filled. The water supply is then stopped by the authorities and as we were not able to store water, we end up living like misers. Neither do we get adequate power, nor water,” rued Sharma.

The residents rued when they rang up the redressal numbers provided by the Powercom, they were never given satisfactory replies. A retired PAU professor, Dr RK Goel, said the authorities should inform before imposing power cuts so that residents were prepared and stored water, timely.
