The Open Ludhiana District Judo Championship for sub-junior and cadet boys and girls would take place at Spring Bells Day Boarding Senior Secondary School at Chander Nagar from December 23 to 24.

Rajinder Sharma, President of the Ludhiana District Judo Association and Rajwinder Singh, General Secretary, said the sub-junior competition would be held on December 23 and the cadet competition would be held on December 24.

They said the weighing of participants would take place at the championship venue on December 22 from 4 pm to 5 pm, adding that no entries would be allowed after this time.

Eligibility for the sub-junior category includes players born in 2011, 2012 and 2013. For the cadet category, players born in 2008, 2009 and 2010 may participate. Participants must bring their birth certificates as proof of age at the time of weighing.

The sub-junior boys’would compete in 35kg, 40kg, 45kg, 50kg, 55kg, 60kg, 66kg, and plus 66kg. For girls, the weight categories would be: 28kg, 32kg, 36kg, 40kg, 44kg, 48kg, 52kg, 57kg and plus 57kg categories.

The cadet boys’ would compete in 50kg, 55kg, 60kg, 66kg, 73kg, 81kg, 90kg and plus 90kg. For cadet girls, the weight categories would be: 40kg, 44kg, 48kg, 52kg, 57kg, 63kg, 70kg and plus 70kg categories.

The winners would represent the district at the Punjab State Judo Championship. — OC
