The academic event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 150 delegates across Punjab, including practicing paediatricians, postgraduate students and faculty members from various medical colleges.
The CME featured sessions delivered by eminent paediatric faculty and experts from reputed medical colleges across the state. Topics included practical aspects of paediatric fluid management, common diseases like dengue, immunisation and everyday clinical challenges. A special session on Kawasaki Disease drew wide interest, highlighting recent advances and marking the launch of the dedicated Kawasaki Disease (KD) clinic at the DMC&H — one of the few centres in the region offering comprehensive care for this condition.
Bipin Gupta, secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, congratulate the organising team, faculty and alumni for their dedication and teamwork in making this event a grand success.
GS Wander, principal, DMC&H, lauded the efforts of the Paediatrics Department and said such academic events reflected the true spirit of the DMC&H.
Speaking on the occasion, Puneet A Pooni, professor & head, Department of Paediatrics, DMC&H said, “The Paediatric CME-2025 aimed to bring together paediatricians and healthcare professionals to share the latest knowledge and evidence-based practices that directly impact everyday paediatric care. Our focus was on practical, clinically relevant topics that enhance patient outcomes.”
Adding a refreshing dimension to the programme were two special non-academic talks — “Beyond success: Social, Emotional Learning and Meaning of Life” by Pooni emphasized empathy and holistic child development and beautiful life lessons, and “Paediatric Secrets you Don’t Learn from Textbooks” by Daljit Singh, ex-principal, DMC&H, which shared timeless clinical pearls and experience-based wisdom.
A highlight of the event was the launch of ‘Alumni Times’, a unique magazine celebrating the achievements, memories’, and milestones of the DMC&H paediatric fraternity.
This year’s event also marked celebration of 40 glorious years of excellence in paediatric education at the DMC&H — a proud legacy of compassionate care, innovation and academic distinction that continues to inspire generations of paediatricians.
The day concluded with a vibrant paediatric alumni meet, where nearly 100 alumnus of the DMC&H Paediatrics Department came together with their families for an evening of music, nostalgia and camaraderie.
