After storming into the knock-out stage, Lakshay came out triumphant in style to fetch the title. In the semi-final, Lakshay overpowered his rival, Mridul Jha from Jalandhar, in straight sets 21-10, 21-10 to book his berth in the title clash wherein Lakshay got the better of Shikhar Ralhan of Patiala, whom he edged out 21-16, 21-16, to lay his hands on the trophy.

This was the second title win for Lakshay. Earlier, he won this title two years ago at the age of 16. For this victory, Lakshay has been selected as Punjab’s leading player to represent the state in the upcoming North Zone Inter-State Badminton Tournament, scheduled to be held next month at Chandigarh.

Prior to this, Lakshay had bagged the gold in the Khelo India University Games in Guwahati, followed by a silver in the Kazakhstan International Badminton Series Tournament in the month of December, last year.
