Ludhiana came out victorious in a handball competition in the boys’ U-19 category on the third day of the 69th Punjab Inter-District School Games, being organised by the Punjab Education Department on Wednesday.

At the Government Senior Secondary School ground, PAU, in handball, Jalandhar boys finished as runners-up and those from the PIS, Mohali, finished at the third place.

In squash (team event), at Manav Rachna International School, in the boys U-14 section, Amritsar, Mohali and Ludhiana secured the top three positions while in the U-17 group, Patiala, Sangrur and Kapurthala secured the first three spots, respectively, and in the U-19 category, hosts Ludhiana emerged winners and Sangrur finished at the second place while Bathinda stood third.

At Government Senior Secondary School ground, Mullanpur Dakha, in football (girls U-14), Ludhiana defeated Hoshiarpur 1-0 to clinch the winners’ trophy.

In the girls’ U-14 section, in the tae kwondo event, here at the multipurpose indoor hall, Purabjot of Ludhiana secured the first position in the below 24 kg weight category while Avneet Kaur of Bathinda finished at the second spot. The third position was bagged jointly by Hargun Kaur of Mohali and Kamalpreet Kaur of Moga.

In the below 26kg weight section, Mandeep Kaur (Patiala), Gursimrat Kaur (Mansa) and Kavya (Faridkot) secured the top three positions and in the below 29 kg weight category, Khwahish (Mohali) pipped her opponents to win the top position and was followed by Anshika (Ludhiana) and Davinder Kaur (Patiala) at the second and third place, respectively.

Amrit Kaur of Patiala proved her mettle to bag the top position in the below 35 kg weight category and Bisampreet Kaur of Ludhiana secured the second position. Harshita of Jalandhar and Meenakshi of Sangrur shared the third position.

In weightlifting at Khanna, in the below 65 kg weight section, Sunil Singh (Amritsar), Tejas (Hoshiarpur) and Yadvir Singh (Patiala) bagged the top three positions while in the below 71 kg weight category, the top three positions were secured by Jashandeep Singh (Mohali), Kunwar Pal Singh (Amritsar) and Sarbjot Singh (Hoshiarpur), respectively.

In the below 79 kg weight category, Ronish (Mohali) emerged victorious and Prabhgursharan Bhatti (Jalandhar) secured the second position while Kartikey Puri (Ludhiana) finished at the third spot and in the below 88 kg weight group, Smile Sharma (PIS Patiala), Harkirat Singh (Fatehgarh Sahib) and Jagteshwar Singh (Hoshiarpur) secured the top three positions.
