The primary demand of the union is immediate revision of the monthly stipend for BVSc & AH interns to ?24,310. Student representatives highlighted that the current stipend was significantly lower compared to those offered by veterinary universities in neighbouring states, including LUVAS, RAJUVAS and BHU, and to BDS and MBBS interns in Punjab. They further emphasised that the state government does not contribute to the existing stipend structure.
Despite multiple rounds of communication with the authorities concerned, students expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of any “concrete or satisfactory resolution”. The union has urged the state government to convene a meeting between its representatives and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema to address their concerns.
