As the election campaign enters its final phase, prominent leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) are set to energise efforts for the West constituency bypoll. Former Minister of State Bikram Singh Majithia, known for his sharp and witty remarks, has arrived in Ludhiana to bolster the campaign of SAD candidate Parupkar Singh Ghuman.

In addition to Majithia, senior SAD leader and former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal is expected to join the campaign in the coming days. Paramjit Singh Sarna, president of Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi), is also likely to be present during the last leg of campaigning.

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal has been stationed in Ludhiana ever since Ghumman was announced as the party’s candidate. Sukhbir has conducted countless meetings with both the party cadre and residents of the West constituency, making extensive efforts to galvanise grassroots workers through one-on-one interactions.

Senior party leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema is also actively involved, holding frequent meetings with local workers. According to party insiders, approximately 70 SAD constituency in-charges from across the state are camping in Ludhiana to lend strength to the election campaign. These leaders are participating in door-to-door canvassing alongside Ghuman to garner support.

“Majithia arrived in the city today and has already begun meeting with party workers. Though this is his first visit to the campaign physically, he has been closely monitoring party activities all along. Majithia is also expected to hold a roadshow with Sukhbir Badal in support of Ghuman in the next two or three days—most likely on June 14—which is expected to witness participation from a large number of party workers.
