Saif Ali of Malerkotla and Sagal Boparai of Sidhwan Akhara emerged winners at the 20th Guru Angad Sahib Mall Akhara Wrestling Championship at Jandali village near here. Ranjit Singh of Akhara Leelan and Ajai Kumar of Doraha Akhara shared the prize money of the second major championship.

The teams of Rurka, Bool and Dehlon villages bagged the first three prizes in the tug-of-war competition held on the occasion. President Nirmaley Ashram and chief organiser of the event Gagan Deep Singh said wrestlers from 30 akharas participated in the event, which has been held annually for the last two decades.

Outstanding performers and achievers in various fields were also felicitated on the occasion.

In the junior wing Ram Partap Singh and Harmanjot Singh bagged the first positions in their respective categories, while Ranbir Singh and Vaneet Kumar won the second prizes.
