The Court of Amar Jeet Singh, Additional Sessions Judge, has sentenced Shiva Disva, a resident of Street No. 8, Vishwakarma Colony, Ludhiana, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012. A fine of Rs 1.20 lakh has also been imposed on the convict.

The court further ordered that Rs 1 lakh out of the total fine amount be paid as compensation to the prosecutrix, subject to realisation of the fine. The case against Shiva Disva was registered on November 5, 2022, at the Division No. 6 police station, Ludhiana, following a complaint filed by the father of a 14-year-old girl. According to the complaint, the girl, who was employed in a factory, was lured by the accused with the promise of marriage. However, the accused later sexually exploited her. The police eventually recovered the girl, who gave a statement against the accused.

During trial, the accused pleaded innocence. However, the court, convinced by the cogent and convincing evidence presented, found him guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
